Savoring the Final Hours of 2015

December 31, 2015 By Martha Alderson

Final hours of 2015Savoring the final hours of 2015

Savoring seems to be the theme of this year’s holiday — savoring, reflecting, mourning and cheering this year’s firsts. What a year it has been — filled with anguish and loss, discovery and freedom! My personal and professional year-at-a-glance 10 points of gratitude:

1) Shot out of 2014 and into 2015 with the launch of this website and blog that fully integrates for the first time nearly all sides of my work — Blockbuster Plots, Plot Whisperer blog and my Transformational work (another side will be integrated in 2016. More on that later…)

Spiritual Guide for Writers2) Writing and filming the Spiritual Guide for Writers: Secrets of Transformation video program with a passion for helping others gave me the unexpected gift toward healing and integrating the shadow and darkness in myself

3) The unabashed respect and admiration I received from the women of WNBA – LA during their LA Writers Conference at Mount St. Mary’s College actually lifted the image I had of myself

4) For one who spends most of her time traveling in her own imagination, a simple weekend trip into the Santa Cruz mountains in May for our 2nd Annual WriterPath Writing Retreat worked its soothing magic yet again

5) Loving and supporting my mother in her final hours, I’ve found everyday since a day of firsts without herMom

6) Launching Writing Deep Scenes: Plotting Your Story though Action, Emotion and Theme that I co-authored with Jordan Rosenfeld felt deeply gratifying both to have collaborated with such a brilliant and thoughtful writer and for the opportunity to share such a terrific new resource with writers

7) Creating a second WriterPath Retreat, this time a Fall Renewal Retreat was the fulfillment of a much awaited heart goal

8) Turning in final edits for Writing Blockbuster Plots: A Step by Step Guide to Mastering Plot, Structure, and Scene (release date 3/16) gave me pause… enough so, I’ve been paused ever since. The opportunity to have the revised and expanded version of my first book with a new cover and reissued through Writers Digest nearly 12 years later brought me full circle.  Self-publishing Blockbuster Plots Pure & Simple defined the course I’ve been on ever since. 2015 allowed me to expand the course to include the personal transformation work I’m so enthusiastic about. Next year looks to be a year of expanding the course wider still… more to come on that later.new cover writing plots_

9) Receiving the cover of Writing Blockbuster Plots from my editor with my name followed by “best selling author of Plot Whisperer” sent me higher and gave me a sense of completion, having arrived and deep satisfaction.

10) Now, purging, organizing, clearing and cleansing give me the time and space in gratitude for all that was and dream in anticipation of all that is to come in 2016 — a year of miracles…

Thank you for your continued love and support on this mutual journey of creating something out of nothing and being transformed by the effort…

Happy savoring the final hours of 2015!
