Middle Grade and Young Adult Plot Workshop

February 7, 2016 By Martha Alderson

You are enthusiastically invited to my Plot Workshop at the Mark Hopkins Hotel in San Francisco next Thursday, February 11th from 6:30 – 9:30pm! The title and description of one of my very few, live, in-person workshops is Middle Grade and Young Adult Plot Workshop, though all novel, memoir, screenplay writers benefit from delving into your story’s plot, structure, character, theme and explore how to emotionally connect to your readers. (Young Adult fiction is one of the hottest selling genres today.)

Stay back from the words and view your story in its entirety.

The following is an Open Enrollment course sponsored by the San Francisco Writers Conference.

PLOT FOR MIDDLE GRADE & YOUNG ADULT STORIES: Plot Your Story Scene-by-Scene to Move Your Readers

This class enables middle-grade and young-adult fiction writers to use their plots to keep their readers engaged. Every scene has to deliver on many levels at once. Compelling characters; exciting dramatic action; meaning, emotion, and depth are essential. You will learn how many subplots is too many and how many characters you need.

You will also learn:

  • Strategies to give your scenes the greatest impact
  • How to turn episodic events into cause and effect
  • Foolproof techniques for developing complex characters
  • What makes for compelling action
  • How to keep the tension constantly rising

Fee: $99

For an additional $30, you may sign up for a 15-minute consultation during the conference or by phone. See you there!

TO REGISTER scroll down until you see the title of my workshop (though the actual conference is sold-out, space is still available in my open enrollment course).
