Frightened Writers

July 25, 2015 By Martha Alderson

Watching my new neighbors (baby seagull stock image — “my” 3 are bigger – adolescents?) peer over the ledge and back away… not ready yet, got me to thinking about resistant and frightened writers who go to the edge, look over and back away.

If the birds jump now they’ll likely get hurt or die. Still, after they turn from the promise, they eat and sleep and flap their little wings, doing all they need to for the strength and skills needed when they are ready.

If you find yourself resisting writing or turn away from doing whatever it is you really want to do, perhaps you know intuitively that if you go forward the risks are too great. Backing away is fine so long as you then studying the craft, read your genre, and interact with other writers, gaining the strength and learning the skills needed when you are ready (I recommend studying the 27 steps of the tutorial: How Do a Plot a Novel, Memoir, Screenplay? video program where I talk you through each step).

If you’re afraid to go forward because once you did plunge and ended up failing on some level in your judgment or you believe you have no imagination or you’re simply afraid to try something you may not be very good at at first, you’ll benefit from the Spiritual Guide for Writers: Secrets of Personal Transformation… Join me and transform your patterns into habits that best support your passion.

NOTE: The Beta-Membership giving you access to both of the above mentioned on-line video programs are in the final stages of filming. When finished, the programs will be split apart and sold separately. Join now and receive both programs for one low price.
